Moncton Mom Says More Awareness Needed For Organ Donation

The mother of a Moncton boy who received a kidney transplant this month, says it is important that we all consider organ donation.

Ashley Barnaby has been promoting organ donation since she found out in 2015, that her son Zaccari would need a transplant, “You don’t realise how close organ donation can become until it affects your family.”

Zaccari finally received a transplant on February 9th, but Barnaby says she plans to continue raising awareness about how important it is to become an organ donor.

“I’ve seen comments left on our page, from people who thought they were organ donors this whole time, but after seeing our story, they checked and it turned out they weren’t. They quickly changed that,” Barnaby says.

Zaccari will continue to battle kidney disease for the rest of his life, and Barnaby says they also have many family and friends also awaiting transplants. She says it’s important that everyone raise awareness, because she has an organ donor to thank for helping to save her son.
