Moncton Man Charged After Theft And Altercation With Police

A 26-year-old Moncton man is facing several charges after an incident in Lutes Mountain.

Early yesterday morning, RCMP received reports of a theft from a Mountain Road convenience store.

The suspect then fled the scene.

Officers were able to locate the vehicle a short time later. While trying to get away from police, the suspect drove his vehicle into a police cruiser.

Richard Simmons was arrested at the scene.

He appeared in court yesterday and is facing charges including assault of a police officer with a weapon and theft.
