Moncton Man Charged After Leaving Crash Scene

A 37-year-old Moncton man is facing six charges after failing to remain at the scene of a four-vehicle collision.

Codiac RCMP were called to the crash at Vaughan Harvey and Mountain Road shortly before 11 a.m. Tuesday.

Police believe the collision occurred when a vehicle heading west on Mountain Road failed to stop and collided with a stopped vehicle.

Two other vehicles were also damaged and one man was hospitalized with injuries and later released.

One driver left the scene but police found him a few blocks away.

During a search of the vehicle, officers uncovered several types of drugs, bear spray and cash.

Jamie Noel was arrested and appeared in Moncton court on Wednesday charged with the following:

  • possession of hydromorphone for the purpose of trafficking
  • possession of crystal methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking
  • possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
  • possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking
  • reckless driving and failure to remain at the scene of an accident
  • possession of a weapon for a purpose dangerous to the public

He is being held in custody until his next court appearance on Friday afternoon.
