Moncton Makes Effort To Curb Booting

Moncton City Council has agreed to tackle the ongoing problem of vehicles being booted in private downtown parking lots.

If city hall receives complaints about booting in a particular parking lot, the city has agreed to approach the owner about putting up a large warning sign.

If the owner doesn’t agree, then the city will put up a sign nearby on its own property where feasible.

Mayor George LeBlanc says he would like to do more but right now the city’s hands are tied.

LeBlanc says he’s frustrated that many local residents and visitors find themselves getting the boot at a cost of up to 100 dollars which can often sour someone’s impression of the city.
