The cause of a fire in a home off Shediac Road in Moncton is under investigation.
Firefighters were called to Scott Street just before 10 a.m. Monday and found heavy smoke coming from the eaves and windows of a brick bungalow.
Moncton Fire Platoon Chief Charlie Melanson says about 15 firefighters were able to bring the fire under control fairly quickly.
Melanson says a woman, several children and a number of pets got out safely.
The fire originated in the basement.
He adds the home has smoke and water damage but is otherwise intact.
