An extraordinary, tremendous and unbelievable event…
Those are just a few words to describe this week’s fundraiser for Moncton Headstart according to its executive director Mary O’Donnell.
Besides receiving a cheque for more than $182,000, O’Donnell says the community support has been amazing.
“The other highlight that really stood out in my mind was that throughout the evening there was that overwhelming feeling of affection for Moncton Headstart,” she notes.
After experiencing financial difficulties this year, O’Donnell says the money raised will go directly into Headstart’s operating budget which will benefit core programs.
With a $1.2 million annual operating budget, O’Donnell says it often doesn’t take long to use the money generated during their own fundraising events throughout the year.
