Moncton Fire Got A Forest Fire Between Railway Tracks Under Control In Two Hours

Moncton Fire crews spent about two hours Saturday afternoon battling a forest fire in the Painsec junction area.

Acting Platoon Chief Charlie Melanson says they first got the call about the fire around 2:45 just off Highway 15.

“It was a fire about two acres of grass and brush between two sets of railroad tracks, we sent approximately 13 firefighters to go and handle the fire,” says Melanson.

He adds they worked in conjunction with Department of Natural Resources employees as well to get the fire under control.

Melanson says no one was injured, and there was no damage to anything man made.

He adds the CN Track Supervisor in the area delayed a train for about half an hour to allow firefighters time to extinguish the blaze.
