Moncton Fire Department Launches “Keep The Wreath Green” Campaign

You may notice wreathes with green lights on fire stations within Moncton.

It is part of a yearly tradition now keeping track of residential fires in the area.

Division Chief for Fire Prevention Charles Leblanc says the aim is to keep the wreath completely green throughout December.

“For every residential fire that occurs within the City of Moncton limits, one red bulb will be added to each green at each one of our stations,” says Leblanc.

Leblanc says every year they have about 6 red bulbs – which is about average for the winter.

He adds prevention tips like being careful with space heaters, and cleaning chimney flues can reduce the likelihood of fires.
