Moncton Councillor Seeks Provincial Support For At-Risk Youth Program

Moncton Ward 4 Councillor Paul Pellerin says not all students fit into one mold which is why the Raising the Grade program at the Boys and Girls Club is so important.

Pellerin has been heavily involved in the club over the years and he recognizes that $155,000 annually is a significant sum to operate the youth program.

“However the return on investment from a kid’s perspective and a community’s perspective is immeassurable,” he adds.

The Boys and Girls Club is seeking provincial support to continue Raising the Grade now that a five-year funding commitment from the Rogers Youth Fund has ended.

Pellerin says local MLA’s Chris Collins and Cathy Rogers are taking the lead in this matter but he adds funding is being sought in a tight budget.
