The public is being asked for their feedback into whether fluoride should be added back into our water again in Greater Moncton The deadline for comments has been extended to February 28th.
The decision on this issue was supposed to be made by Moncton City Council on February 27th, but there was question as to whether or not this is enough time to go over all of the pros and cons of fluoride.
Councillor Shawn Crossman was one of several that raised their concerns over the lack of time to review the research, “I think that became very clear from the citizens of Moncton, that they wantedthe issue to be looked at by the members of Council at a more serious level. Thirty days, was quite substandard, quite honestly. I think the meeting we had with the citizens group who were against, and the dentist group who were for, caused a lot of outreach by the citizens and their concern of adding fluoride to the water. “
Crossman expects Council will get together to discuss their concerns and comments from the public on the issue, “This will probably come up at a debate later on. Probably what will happen is, Council have to get together and bring forth the questions that they have, and voice both sides of the story once again.”
No date has been set yet for a final decision.
