Moncton is about to celebrate a big birthday, which has been 125 years in the making!
A weekend festival with fun for the whole family is being held this weekend to mark the milestone.
City spokesperson Nicole Melanson says Moncton has certainly had its ups and downs over the years.
SHe says, “Moncton became a city again in 1890 because it has lost its status with the loss of the shipbuilding industry. So, once we reclaimed that, the motto
that was adopted was “Resurgo”, a latin temr which means “Rise again.”
The festival highlight will be a concert featuring Simple Plan on Friday night at Riverfront Park along with fireworks over the Petitcodiac River.
