Transit riders in Moncton can expect changes this weekend as the city prepares for Hockey Day in Canada activities downtown.

Codiac Transpo said several of its routes will be detoured on Saturday to accommodate street closures around the Avenir Centre and Downtown Place.

The changes will affect riders throughout the morning and into the day as festivities get underway.

Codiac Transpo said Main Street will be closed between Bonaccord Street and Cameron Street starting at 5:30 a.m.

Because of that closure, the agency said buses that normally stop at 1111 and 1110 Main will be moved to St. George Street.

Riders will need to board between Weldon Street and Highfield Street.

Codiac Transpo listed the routes that will be detoured:

  • 50 Red Line
  • 60 Bessborough
  • 64 Hospitals
  • 67 Edinburgh
  • 68 Salisbury
  • 81 Riverview

Codiac Transpo said the detours will remain in place during the festivities and encouraged passengers to check its mobile app or online for updated schedules and routing information.
