More than 300 patrons were checked at eleven bars in the Moncton area last weekend.
The joint operation by Codiac RCMP and officials from the Department of Justice and Public Safety focused on compliance of the Liquor Control Act, fire regulations and the Emergency Measures Act.
During the night (9:30 p.m. on Saturday to 3 a.m. Sunday), Mounties seized two weapons from a youth, ticketed a youth for being underage in a lounge and made two arrests – one man for an outstanding warrant and another man for public intoxication.
“The majority of people and establishments were complying with the regulations,” says Staff Sgt. Patricia Levesque.
“These are important regulations aimed at keeping everyone safe during a night out.”
Meantime, Justice and Public Safety peace officers issued 10 warnings and three tickets related to vaccination requirements and issued five tickets to patrons who were underage.
Two possibly fraudulent vaccination documents were also seized.
The Office of the Fire Marshal also closed one establishment for fire hazards.
Anyone with information about illegal activity is asked to contact police.
