Moncton Airport Security And Emergency Reponders Ready To Act When Needed

Quick action was taken last night at the Greater Moncton Romeo Leblanc International Airport.

A bomb threat was called in, but after a thorough investigation, it turned out to be fake.

Spokesperson for the Airport Julie Pondant says, there is a procedure followed when incidents like this happen, “The RCMP is one of the top ones who get called out. They come in, and assess and do their own investigation.”

Other emergency responders are also involved including the fire department, and airport security.

The airport was evacuated and there were no plane arrivals or departures during the incident.

“Everybody plays their role. We pull together and we get through it,” Pondant says.

She says luckily, last night’s investigation was completed within a couple of hours..

The Airport holds regular emergency practice drills with emergency responders, to ensure they know the protocol when incidents like this happen.

“We do have one coming up in November, and it is based around a bomb threat. So, we’ll have a lot to bring to the table and heave real life examples to share with the team,” Pondant says.
