Gary Keating says he came to the conclusion that this role is not for him after some deep reflection.
He says over the course of the election and over the past few weeks it became apparent that the long hours and travel associated with the position will have a negative impact on his health and family. Keating apologizing to the people to Saint John East and hopes they understand his reasons for making this decision.
Keating, who is the principal of Simonds High School, winning by a nine vote margin over Conservative Glen Savoie in the recount.
