Mixed Reaction On Budget From NB Student Alliance

The New Brunswick Student Alliance is happy to see regulation of costs for students in the Gallant government’s budget.

Executive Director Pat Joyce says New Brunswick has the fourth highest tuition level among all the provinces and this freeze will help student pocketbooks.

However, he is concerned over the announced freeze in government grants to universities. he say that will affect the ability of universities to provide high quality education and will mean they may have to sacrifice something that will affect students.

Joyce says New Brunswick is ranked 8th out of 10 when it comes to public funding of universities.

He hopes government will take an opportunity to be closer to the national average for public support.
