There were obviously a lot of spoons under the pillows and pjs on inside out overnight. These are all traditions for kids who wanted another snow day. Well, they got it. Schools in Anglophone East, Francophone South, Anglophone North and Anglophone South are all closed today due to weather conditions.
Areas in Northern New Burnswick are under freezing rain warnings, while in the West, they are under rainfall warnings today.
The Moncton region is under a Special weather statement, and we’re going to get a mix of precipitation throughout the day.
Environment Canada Meteorologist Darin Borgel says we’ll see snow, freezing rain and rain, “The warm air is moving in from the south pretty quickly, and we’re expecting one to three hours of freezing rain for the area later this morning.”
That could make roads slick, so motorists are advised to take caution. We’ve already received reports of icy patches on roads in other parts of the province.
It is expected to be mild temperatures wise though. Temperatures are expected to rise to around 10 degrees today, which would be record breaking. The previous record high is just over 6 degrees, set in 1953.
