Newly named Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development Brian Kenny toured Harrison Trimble today, prior to the start of upgrades that are being done at the school.
The cost of the project is $7.4 million over three years and it includes renovations to the metal/wood shop, science and culinary classrooms, and security upgrades.
The province plans to invest almost $109 million in school infrastructure projects across the province, and Minister Kenny says he will be visiting the schools across the province where work will be done, “This is just one example, but we are doing it throughout the province, and this will be part of my job to go and inspect and see what is taking place across New Brunswick.”

Kenny says this mid-life upgrade at Harrison Trimble will help to extend the life of the school by over 30 years.
They will begin at the end of June and continue throughout the summer, “A lot of planning and staging had to be done to be able to start work in the next couple of weeks.
They have to make sure they have timelines to meet before the next school year starts, so this is where you have a collaborative effort going with the faculty and staff, Department of Transportation and Infracstucture, as well as the Architects.”
He says being new in this role, the first step is to educate himself on the many ongoing files within the department.
