Military To Help Assess Flooding Damage

Members of the military were requested by the provincial government to help in the recovery efforts.

60 troops were deployed to the region on Friday.

Premier Brian Gallant says they will work closely with provincial authorities to help with the planning and coordination of relief efforts.

Gallant says they will not be doing any work that will put the Canadian Armed Forces in competition with local industries and they will also not going onto a resident’s property to clean up debris, if a Contractor could be doing it.

Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Ralph Goodale says they are committed to working together to help keep people safe and to help them recover.
