Meta moving away from news on Facebook, Instagram in Canada

Soon you won’t be able to access news on Facebook or Instagram.

Meta officially announcing they’re pulling all news-related content for Canadian users within the next few weeks.

It’s in response to Bill C-18, in which companies like Meta would have to pay royalties to Canadian news outlets to share stories.

The Liberals passed the Bill in June, and Meta had indicated the move was coming.

The ban for Canadians includes international news outlets like CNN and BBC.

It won’t affect users outside the country.
