Mental Health Forum For Youth Being Held Today

Students in Anglophone East schools are learning more about mental health.

The school district has teamed up with the Canadian Mental health Association and is offering its first ever forum.

Community Schools Coordinator Heather Stordy says 15 students from eight high schools will be taking part in the forum today.

She says they’ll be learning tools that will assist them on good mental health. There will be workshops offered around pet therapy, yoga, mindfulness and anxiety 101. They’re hoping to engage and empower youth and bring together school based leaders and establish a voice in schools for mental health.

Feedback from mental health discussions will be compiled by the Association, and then coping strategies will be provided to the youth to use when their mental health is negatively impacted.

The forum is being held from 9am until 2pm today at the Moncton Wesleyan Chruch.
