Men And Women March In Moncton For Equality

A march through downtown Moncton helped to mark International Women’s Day.

The group of over 200 men and women marched from the Avenir Centre to Moncton City Hall yesterday afternoon.

They were calling on the provincial government and all MLAs to quickly adopt legislation on pay equity for the New Brunswick private sector.

Three groups reiterated issues such as jobs and financial security.

New Brunswick Coalition for Pay Equity’s Chair, Frances LeBlanc says, “They were there to say loud and clear to our current elected officials and to those who are thinking of running for office that it is high time this province showed its support for feminism and recognized that pay equity is the key to women’s equality.”
