Defense lawyer, Gilles Lemieux says disclosure is still not complete, with a lot of physical evidence yet to come.
He adds four weeks in May 2017 is the earliest available time for the inquiry.
“We can always shorten something, but as you can see, the availability of judges to hear it is somewhat limited, ” says Lemieux. “So I would rather book a month, and use two weeks or three weeks, than book two weeks and run out of time.”
He was asked about Shephard’s opinion on the delay.
“She’s not happy about it, and she’s very concerned, but very anxious to have her day in court to bring out the true facts in this situation,” says Lemieux.
With other trials related to this case planned before Shephard’s, Lemieux was asked about the possible impact they might have.
“The possbilities are endless, maybe there will be very limited effect, but as I say, the possibilities are endless,” says Lemieux. “We’ll have to wait and see how things develop and see what impact things might have.”

Shephard looked healthy, and alert in her court appearance.
She is facing charges of first degree murder and arson.
