Marissa Shephard Appeal To Be Decided At Later Date

A Moncton woman convicted of first degree murder, arson and disregard for human life, is appealing her conviction.

Statements were heard in New Brunswick Appeal Court yesterday, but a judge has reserved their decision until a later date.

23 year old Marissa Shephard was convicted in May 2018 in the death of 18 year old Baylee Wylie.

In her appeal, Shephard says the judge erred in law when allowing hearsay videotaped statements of Devin Morningstar, who was also convicted of first degree murder.

Shephard is serving a life sentence with no chance of parole.

Tyler Noel also pleaded guilty to second degree murder in Wylie’s death.
