Many Memorable Moments For 20th Annual Turkey Drive

A continued push for turkeys down back at the St George Boulevard fire station.

At closing on Monday night, the total for the Sue Stultz and Moncton Firefighters turkey drive sat at 1323 turkeys. There are four days to go, until the December 8th deadline.

Sue Stultz says they see both young and old take the time to drop off a turkey, and she sees many veterans, “What really touches my heart, is when the veterans come in. We hear their stories, that they never got to eat turkey, they had to eat other things during the war, and they want to make sure that never happens to anyone ever again. They’re individually coming in, to make sure people have what they didn’t have during the war, and a lot of people don’t realise that.”

4241 turkeys are needed this year, to ensure every table in southeast new Brunswick has a turkey on it this Christmas.

Stultz says it’s great to see the children coming in to make donations as well, “They’re going to carry this on. It’s fun for them, they know the help is needed this year. No one gets left behind and that is the way it should be.”

This is the 20th year for the Sue Stultz and Moncton Firefighters turkey drive, but Stultz was doing this long before that, “One thing that makes me very proud. There is not one turkey in all of these years that has ever been solicited, not one. They all come from the heart.”

Turkey central is open each day from 10am to 7pm.
