Man Sentenced To Five Years For Manslaughter In Peters St. Death

A Saint John who pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the death of Wayne Saunders has been sentenced to 5 years federal time. 33 year old James Robertson is also banned for life from owning weapons, and must submit a DNA sample.

Saunders died after falling out of a third-storey window on Peters Street during a violent altercation back in November.

The victim’s sister read a statement describing how she lost both a brother and a partner – since she was dating Robertson at the time he and her brother had the fatal fight – describing it as a nightmare from which she can’t wake up. The court heard that Robertson had issues with substance abuse, which it’s hoped he will address while in jail.
