Man rammed police car in Quispamsis, arrested in Moncton: police

A 22-year-old man is facing multiple charges after allegedly ramming a stolen vehicle into a police car.

In a social media post, the Kennebecasis Regional Police Force says they got a call Thursday morning about a suspicious vehicle driving erratically in Rothesay.

Investigators learned it had been reported stolen Tuesday.

Police later spotted the vehicle in a parking lot in the 100-200 block of Hampton Road in Quispamsis.

They then tried to pull the car over and told the driver to get out, but the man reversed and rammed into the front bumper of the police car. He then allegedly tried to hit the officer, but they were able to jump out of the way and were not hurt.

The man drove off onto Hampton Road and police did not pursue it him for safety reasons.

Police say they reached out to RCMP detachments in Hampton, Sussex, and Moncton for help.

RCMP stopped the driver in Moncton and the man was arrested.

He faces several charges, including  stealing a vehicle and assaulting a police officer.

He appeared in Saint John court Friday.
