Man charged with murder in Chipman double homicide

A 42-year-old man from Chipman has been charged in connection with a double homicide in the community.

Police received a report of a vehicle on fire with two people inside off Midland Road around 8 a.m. on Nov. 25.

Officers located two bodies inside the burned-out white Chevrolet Equinox SUV.

They were identified as 47-year-old Robert Waugh and 23-year-old Victoria King, both from the Fredericton area.

Police said investigators determined they had been victims of a homicide.

RCMP arrested a man at a home on Route 123 in Chipman on Sunday.

He has since been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and remains in custody.
