Man charged with 1st-degree murder in southeastern N.B.

A man has been charged with murder following a weekend death in a southeastern New Brunswick community.

RCMP said they received a report of a missing 67-year-old man in Beaubassin East on Saturday evening.

Officers located the man’s body in a wooded area near his property around 6 a.m. Sunday.

Investigators identified a person of interest and arrested a man about four hours later.

A 29-year-old from Beaubassin East was charged with first-degree murder on Monday, according to police.

He was remanded into custody and is due back in court at a later date.
