Man Charged After Unsecured Firearm Seized

Codiac RCMP have arrested a 42-year-old man and seized an unsecured firearm at a home in Moncton.

Last Thursday afternoon, Mounties visited a home on Sumac Street at the request of the Office of the Fire Marshal.

While in the home, officers noticed an unsecured weapon in plain view.

A 42-year-old man from Moncton was arrested at the scene.

A rifle was seized by police as well as a handgun replica.

Jesse Robert Shannon appeared in court via tele-remand on Friday and was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and breach of conditions.

He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to return to court on December 9 at 9:30 a.m. for a bail hearing.
