Majority Government After Monday’s Election Appears Remote

There’s virtually no one who foresees another majority government emerging from Monday’s federal election.

The latest Nanos poll for CTV and the Globe and Mail has the Liberals leading nationally with 36.5% support, the Conservatives with 30.6%, the NDP at 23.5% and the Greens at 4.7%.

Assistant Professor of Political Science at U-N-B Saint John, J.P. Lewis says the outcome is still up for grabs but the long federal election campaign allowed the federal party leaders to define themselves.

Lewis believes Federal Liberal leader Justin Trudeau has had a good campaign because the expectations for him beforehand were so low. Trudeau will be making his first and only campaign stop in Saint John tomorrow afternoon.

Conservative leader Stephen Harper campaigns in Fredericton early this evening.
