Moncton firefighters were concerned a fire outside the Walmart on Plaza Boulevard this morning was going to spread to the store itself.
Shortly before 6:30am, Platoon Chief Brian Gaudet says he inititally asked for a full response when a call came from an employee who was unloading a tractor trailer using a forklift.
“He noticed some fire coming from underneath the forklift as he started it. He tried to extinguish it on his own. But the fire grew and eventually he had to disconnect the tractor from the trailer and he called us.”
No one was hurt.
Gaudet says fast work from firefighters prevented the blaze was spreading.
He adds the cause is being investigated since the fire department doesn’t see this kind of fire very often.
