Lunar Landing 49 Years Ago Inspires Saint John Artist

Saint John artist Norman Jackson is looking to spark interest in the 50th anniversary of the lunar landing in 2019 by having prints made up of a painting that hangs in the lobby of the Neil Armstrong Museum.

Jackson’s painting is called “In This Decade” the reference to John F. Kennedy’s famous speech about landing a man on the moon and returning him safely.

Jackson says after he did the painting he thought Armstrong should know about it.

“I called NASA and the guy started laughing, I said why are you laughing? he said everyone wants to speak to Neil Armstrong who are you? I am a Saint John artist and I did a painting of the ghost of John F. Kennedy watching Neil Armstrong complete the dream,” stated Jackson.

Jackson says he actually spoke to Armstrong for 30 minutes and the painting he did 49 years ago now sits in the Neil Armstrong Museum in Ohio.
