Longtime Riverview Volunteer Honoured

A long-time community volunteer in Riverview will be the 2018 recipient of the Jim DeWolfe Community Spirit Award.

David Owen moved to Riverview 51 years ago and has taken on numerous volunteer activities and leadership roles including with the Boy Scouts and various sports organizations.

For 20 years, he could be found on the ice refereeing hockey and ringette games and at the ball field as a volunteer umpire for Riverview Minor Baseball.

Owen operated the Albert County Food Bank and the annual Christmas aid program.

Owen is also the founding president of the Riverview Boys and Girls Club and was an RCMP auxiliary member for 10 years.

The Town of Riverview is holding its Volunteer Recognition Night on Thursday, April 26 at the Coverdale Centre starting at 6:30pm.
