Local MP Expresses Sympathy After Tragedy In Quebec City

Many people remain in shock in Quebec City after a shooting at a mosque that left 6 dead and 5 critically injured.

The shooting occurred during evening prayers last night.

MP for Greater Moncton Ginette Petitpas-Taylor says she was shocked to hear about this incident, “My heart is just broken, and I feel terrible for the people who have to deal with this senseless event.”

When asked whether she thought this type of incident could happen here, she said we must always remain vigilant. Two people were taken into custody in connection with the attack.

Prime Minister Trudeau released a statement following the shooting, stating that “We condemn this terrorist attack on Muslims in a centre of worship and refuge.

“Tonight, Canadians grieve for those killed in a cowardly attack on a mosque in Quebec City. My thoughts are with victims & their families.

Report says the Prime Minister received a call from President Donald Trump today. He expressed his condolences to Trudeau and the people of Canada following this tragic shooting, and offered to provide any assistance as needed.
