Local Business Owner Fundraises For Woodworker Who Lost Everything In Fire

A Moncton business is holding a fundraiser to to try and help out a Salisbury businessman who lost all everything in a fire last month..

John Black is a Woodworker whose business was located in a shop on Salisbury Road that burned to the ground on February 18th.

Owner of Movi Yoga, Dance and Fitness on Mountain Road Candace Hayden says he spent a lot of time at the market and many people there knew his name, “He’s such a positive guy. He is so easy going and I just really felt for him, especially opening a new business just two months ago, I just wanted to do whatever I could to help him. He makes cutting boards as his specialty, and furniture and it is really beautiful work. I think it’s really important to support what people are doing locally, and when they have a passion for it, it just shines even more.”

All of Black’s tools were lost, and he doesn’t have insurance.

Hayden says he is a very giving individual, “He brought three cutting boards to me, and he hardly has anything left after this fire. He gave me one and donated the other two to the basket. he could have sold those.”

Hayden has received donations from area businesses to put together a gift and is selling raffle tickets on a gift basket worth around $2000 dollars.

Her goal is to raise $5000 for Black by the end of the month.
