The Energy and Utilities Board is not expected to make any changes to gas prices in New Brunswick at midnight.
“A slight decrease, maybe half a penny, but it’s not likely that that will be passed on, the Board isn’t likely to make any changes,” says McTeague. “Diesel might actually see a one penny decrease.”
However, senior petroleum analyst Dan McTeague with Gasbuddy.com says there will be a jump on Canada Day when the provincial HST increases.
“I don’t think you’ll see implementation of the 2% hike in HST going from 13% to 15% until Friday so it’s unlikely that the Thursday change will see any differences at the pumps,” says McTeague. “By law, gas stations will be required to charge the additional 2%.”
McTeague says drivers should be prepared for that jump on Canada Day.
