Liquor Sales Increase To $133M In First Quarter

Liquor sales in New Brunswick continued to be strong during the first three months of this fiscal year.

Unaudited first-quarter results released Aug. 2 show total product sales of $133.7 million.

That is an increase of just over three per cent compared to the same period last year.

Net income for the quarter was $52.3 million, which is 1.4 per cent ahead of last year’s first quarter of $51.6 million.

Spirit sales saw the biggest jump on a year-over-year basis at more than six per cent, or $1.7 million.

Sales increased in all of NB Liquor’s key product categories, which also include wine, beer, coolers and cider.
