Centennial Park Pool Staff Take Extra COVID-19 Precautions

Centennial Park Pool was a popular spot over the weekend.

It officially opened for the first time on Saturday.

The Codiac Vikings Aquatic Club and Club de Natation Bleu et Or are looking after operations at the pool.

Spokesperson Jocelyn Keech says they needed to make a few adjustments to ensure staff and swimmers were protected from COVID-19.

“Things were a little different this year. We had to do an operational plan and have it approved that outlines all the steps we’re taking to ensure everything is as safe as possible,” she says.

Lifeguards must wear a mask when consulting each other as they switch shifts and practice physical distancing.

Keech says they also hired additional staff, to meet enhanced cleaning protocols.

Additionally, Keech says CPR masks are also being switched out to ensure everyone is properly equipped to respond to emergency situations.
