Liberals Win Majority In Province

After several nail-biting hours, a Liberal majority government was finally declared in New Brunswick early this morning and party leader Brian Gallant arrived at his headquarters in Grande-Digue around 1:30am.

The Liberals picked up 27 seats with the Tories dropping to 21 seats and the Green Party garnered one seat.

Premier-designate Brian Gallant told the few remaining friends and family on hand that there are many challenges to overcome.

“I can tell you that I have had the privilege of going around the province to meet New Brunswickers from all corners who still believe in their province, who still believe in their communities and who still believe in themselves..”

Gallant thanked Premier David Alward for his public service and also congratulated Green Party leader David Coon on winning his seat and noted how he will now provide an alternative voice in the legislature.
