Liberals promise youth jobs in New Brunswick

Liberal Leader Brian Gallant is promising job creation for youth in the province.

During an announcement in Dieppe this morning, he told supporters, if elected, he would implement a Youth employment fund.

“This would be for people aged 18 to 29 years old. We would have 1500 placements, up to $7800, and this would be to help young people find a placement where they’ll get hands on work experience.”

Gallant says this plan would eventually help youth to find permanent full time work in New Brunswick, instead of having to go out West for employment.

The Youth Employment Fund is modelled after one in Ontario.

It is expected to lead to the creation of annual employment of over 11 hundred full-time jobs and return over $5.8 million in
tax revenue to the province.
