Liberal leader to run in Fredericton South-Silverwood

With speculation growing about a snap election, New Brunswick’s Liberal leader has decided where she will run.

Susan Holt announced Wednesday that she will run in the newly created riding of Fredericton South-Silverwood.

“Fredericton is home. It’s where I grew up, built a career, and it’s where Jon and I chose to raise our family,” Holt said in a news release.

“I started serving the people of Fredericton – though it was ice cream at the time – back in 1993, with the Chamber in 2010, and I am keen to serve them again as their MLA and potentially as Premier.”

Holt has been serving as leader of the provincial Liberal Party since August 2022.

She won the Bathurst East-Nepisiguit-Saint-Isidore byelection in April and has been representing that riding in the legislature ever since.

“The people of Bathurst East-Nepisiguit-Saint-Isidore put their trust in me; I am deeply grateful and will never forget the honour they’ve given me as their MLA,” said Holt.

In September, Green Party leader David Coon announced he would run in the new riding of Fredericton-Lincoln.
