On the campaign trail today, Liberal leader Justin Trudeau announced his party’s plan for Canada’s First Nations in Saskatoon today.
He says his government would engage in a meaningful, nation-to-nation process to increase First Nations education.
That includes an immediate investment of 515 million dollars per year for First Nations K through 12, rising to 750 million dollars by the end of their first mandate.
It includes another 500 million dollars over the next three years for First Nations education infrastructure as well as 50 million dollars for the Post Secondary Student Support Program.
He also promises new funds to preserve, promote and enhance Indigenous languages and culture.
Conservative leader Stephen Harper is campaigning in Winnipeg, there’s no word where NDP Leader Tom Mulcair is today, and Green Party Leader Elizabeth May is attending several events in her home riding of Saanich-Gulf Islands in British Columbia.
