LeBlanc Running For Riverview Mayor

Andrew LeBlanc says he’s passionate about making a difference and helping to create a better quality of life for the residents of Riverview.

After two decades of supporting youth in the non-profit sector and nine years as a councillor, LeBlanc is running for mayor of Riverview in the municipal elections.

LeBlanc says keeping the town’s growth sustainable and building a safe, inclusive community are among his priorities.

“Public safety is a big one. I think residents often bring up police presence or how we’re keeping our community safe… so that’s something we really have to take on. We have to obviously look at the transition from COVID-19 and trying to restore our service levels.”

LeBlanc says recent rent hikes and affordable housing are issues which need a regional approach when at the table with the province.

“The stereotypical view on this kind of an issue is… this is something the big cities have to worry about and we don’t necessarily realize that this is impacting us. We have to start asking some questions around what role can the municipality play when it comes to affordable housing.”

LeBlanc says maintaining and expanding the town’s parks and trail systems seem to resonate with residents.

Riverview continues to grow and LeBlanc says it will be important going forward to maintain the same level of service now offered.

Transparency is also important to him and he wants residents to know what he’s doing as an elected official and what decisions he makes.

If elected, LeBlanc says he will be keeping his day job and believes it will give him a stronger skills set as mayor.
