Large Grant Great News For First Nations Artists In New Brunswick

Good news for indigenous artists in New Brunswick after a grant announced by the Department of Post-Secondary Training and Labour.

A $166,000 grant over two years for artsnb will be used for intensive creative capacity building workshops for indigenous artists.

Approximately 140 artists across seven disciplines including visual arts, fine craft and dance will be affected.

Artsnb believes the funding will allow greater visibility and recognition for indigenous artists, and encourage others to participate.

As well they hope this will build improved networks of support for artistic and cultural production at the local, provincial and national level.

artsnb Aboriginal Outreach Officer Natalie Sappier says the way indigenous artists create is unique and these workshops is an opportunity to discover new possibilites and learn from their peers.
