Large Crowds Of Onlookers At Fire Scenes Causes Frustration

A reminder from the Moncton Fire Department to stay clear of fire scenes.

Last week’s fire in a duplex of Brevet Street attracted a lot of attention, from onlookers.

Platoon Chief Brian Gaudet says he can understand the curiousity, but it can interfere with the work they are doing, “Stay back and out our way so we can do our work as judiciously as possible.”

Gaudet says once the firefighters arrive, a perimeter is established so that onlookers have to stay far back of the fire.

Often, prior to their arrival, onlookers in cars can cause congestion on streets, “When the cars are on the streets, it creates so much congestion, and makes it difficult to get to the building. It hinders our operations in terms of laying high volume supply lines.”
