Canada Post Updates Parcel Shipping Deadlines

Time is running out to get your holiday parcels in the mail to ensure they arrive at their destination by Christmas.

Canada Post has adjusted its shipping deadlines in response to what it describes as “unprecedented demand.”

Tuesday, December. 15, is the last day to send a package nationally by regular parcel. Parcels can be sent regionally until Wednesday, Dec. 16, and locally until Friday, Dec. 18.

If you are willing to pay for priority shipping, packages can be sent anywhere in Canada by Friday.

Holiday cards being sent nationally should also be sent by Friday, but you have until Monday, Dec. 21, if the destination is local or regional.

You can find the most up-to-date holiday deadlines on the Canada Post website.

The Crown corporation said Monday that it delivered 1.1 million parcels across the country over the weekend and expect heavy deliveries to continue up until Christmas.

“Even with processing and delivery moving well with additional resources, there is a limit to what we can safely process and deliver. Customers should expect delays,” it said.

Canada Post has added more than 4,000 seasonal employees and increased its fleet by more than 1,000 vehicles.
