Kent County hospital ER closed this weekend

Residents in Kent County will not be able to use their local hospital’s emergency room this weekend.

The ER at the Stella-Maris-de-Kent Hospital will be closed from 7:30 p.m. Friday to 7:30 a.m. Monday.

The closure is due to a “critical shortage of nursing staff,” Vitalité Health said in a news release Friday afternoon.

Anyone requiring emergency medical care will need to go to another hospital. All ambulances will be rerouted to other hospitals.

If you are unsure whether your condition requires a visit to the ER, you can call the Tele-Care 811.
