Flood victims living near Jonathan Creek in Moncton are coming together to seek more help from the city and higher levels of government.
Some have suffered flooding multiple times, and tonight the group plans to make a presentation to Moncton City Council.
Daniel Richards, who lives in the Jones Lake area, says he suffered a total home loss to flooding and even after rebuilding had more flooding last December.
He says, “We’ve been told to fill out forms again and to go through procedures, and hopefully funds will be released. It does take time, and it can be frsutrating but we’re looking at the light at the dn of the tunnel.”
Richards and other flood victims have applied for disaster relief through the province but so far no funding has been released.
City Councillor Brian Hicks says, “They are starting to ask some very good questions of the province. The City has done a lot so far, and the ball at this point is in the provinces court.”
Moncton City Council begins at 5pm today in Council Chambers at City Hall.
