In a video statement to police in December 2015, Devin Morningstar said he wanted Marissa Shephard and Tyler Noel in jail with him for their role in the death of 18-year old Baylee Wylie.
The interview was conducted by RCMP Corporal Laurent Lemieux.
Morningstar, while admittedly confused at times in his statement, accuses Shephard of hitting Wylie with a broken glass bong, and stabbing him with a broken mirror.
He also says Shephard helped devise the plan to attack Wylie, and was responsible for using Axe body spray to soak the box spring Noel put on top of the corpse.
Morningstar believes Shephard lit the fires upstairs, but didn’t see her doing it, just saw her coming down. ‘I believe she was the one up there, lighting up, & I believe Tyler was the one downstairs.’ He says fires already started when he came back for the 2nd box.

Throughout the statement, Morningstar repeatedly proclaimed he’d been framed, and manipulated by Shephard and Noel to take the fall, although he did acknowledge his participation in the stabbing of Wylie.
He claimed he did it under duress, believing he would be killed as well if he didn’t help.
In the video, Lemieux asks Morningstar about whether the .22 calibre rifle Noel had was used at any point in the events surrounding Wylie’s death.
Lemieux asks why he had no bullets? Morningstar said ‘because he didn’t shoot anybody.’ Lemieux asks, so are you saying if he had bullets, he would have used them? Morningstar: yes.

In the video, Morningstar was asked by Lemieux why he had agreed to speak.
Lemieux asks: why did you decide to talk to me today? Morningstar responds ‘I want my freedom back & I want to see Tyler & Missy in here.’ Lemieux says you want them to be accountable for what they did? He agrees. Morningstar says he wants to be held accountable for his role too.

Lemieux will be cross examined by the Defence when the trial resumes at 9:30.
